| Zavala is peaceful place on the south coast of island Hvar. Zavala is situated about 80 m above the sea. The village has a harbour with a jetty and a road link with Jelsa. Zavala is famous for its excellent white wine (bogdanjuša). Below the village, a string of beautiful beaches are lapped by a crystal clear sea. Zavala is well known for producing quality wine from the surrounding vineyards. The village is self sufficient with a couple of grocery shops, cafe bars as well as a restaurant or two! The larger town of Jelsa is about 15minutes drive away and Hvar about 35minutes away. Zavala is a seaside town which has spread along this part of the coast and is interspersed among the vineyards and local worker’s stone houses. |
